Visiting this website

This website sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and loads no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers. It is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open a page, Cloudflare processes your IP address, the requested page, date and time, browser type and referring page in order to deliver the page and protect it against attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and working website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We do not keep access logs ourselves. Cloudflare may process this data in the USA. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).

Newsletter

What happens when you subscribe. The email address you enter is sent from this site, through Cloudflare, to our newsletter service beehiiv, Inc. (USA). beehiiv stores it and sends the newsletter on our behalf as a processor (Art. 28 GDPR). Together with the address, beehiiv receives the date and time of sign-up and the note that you signed up on this website. You then receive a confirmation email. Only after you click the link in it do you receive issues (double opt-in). If you do not confirm, you receive one reminder after 48 hours and nothing else.

Measuring opens and clicks. Each issue contains a small image and links that let beehiiv record whether and when an issue was opened and which links were clicked. When you open an issue or click a link, beehiiv records the time, IP address, device and email program. We use this to improve the newsletter and to report aggregate reach to sponsors.

Sponsors. Issues may contain sponsor messages. They are always marked with the sponsor’s name. Sponsors receive no personal data about readers, only aggregate numbers.

Legal basis and withdrawal. Sending the newsletter and measuring opens and clicks are based on your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to hello@anyon.news. Withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before it.

Providing your address. Giving your email address is voluntary. Without it we cannot send you the newsletter.

Storage period. We keep your email address for as long as you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe, beehiiv keeps your address and the record of your consent, marked as unsubscribed, so that we can prove consent and do not email you again (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We delete it completely on request.

Transfer to the USA. beehiiv, Inc. is based in the USA. The transfer is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR). You can request a copy of these safeguards at hello@anyon.news. beehiiv’s privacy policy
